Urban Rebounding: Jump to Fitness

I will go to the gym more regularly. I will lose five pounds. I will tone up and feel better than ever. Getting in shape is often at the top of list when it comes to New Year’s resolutions. And if you are looking for a new workout for the new year, you may want to try jumping to fitness.
I recently took a class at Equinox called Urban Rebounding. It is also known as the Trampoline Workout, and while I always associated trampolines with carefree youth, this workout was far from kid’s stuff ! Fun it was, but it was also one of the most intense workouts I have ever had.
I like to consider myself athletic, and in fairly good shape. I work out 2-3 times a week, run the river in the summer, and get a great dose of cardio on the elliptical or treadmill. I also have grown to love yoga. So when I grabbed the personal size trampoline at the start of class, I was confidently thinking “no sweat.” Boy was I wrong! Fifteen minutes in I was already far more than glistening, and my heart rate was definitely kicked up a notch–well a few notches to the pant level. This I was told was just the “warm up.” Twenty minutes in I gave up worrying about how I was looking on my bouncing base, and just tried to keep up, and by the midway point I was focused strictly on surviving the second half of class!
While the thought of the slipping out of the class before it was over passed through my mind several times, the embarrassment I might feel (you can’t really discreetly put away a 2 foot in diameter trampoline), had me embracing the pain, and sweating it out! And yes, despite my complaining (mainly in my own head) I felt really good at the finish. And no, not just because it was over (well, kinda) but also because I had done an INCREDIBLE workout, and really did feel pumped, and proud of myself for getting through.
This Trampoline Workout, or known to millions around the worlds as Urban Rebounding, is an amazing cardio workout. It’s lineage in martial arts and core abdominal postures, resulting in a non-stop abdominal workout that melts away the fat and inches, strengthens your core and improves your balance and coordination like no other exercise! The Urban Rebounding System is the powerful total body workout that is in nearly 5,000 health clubs worldwide.
There are SO many benefits of the Trampoline Workout, including strenghtening the heart, kicking up metabolism, fighting fatigue, improving circulation, not to mention aiding in weight loss and muscle building!! And, don’t worry if you don’t have access to a gym with Urban Rebounding classes. Personalized trampolines and video dvd instruction can be purchased at many health and sporting goods stores throughout the nation. Also, a great resource for information about Urban Rebounding and equiptment is http://www.urbanrebounding.com. Get Jumping!!
