Feb is Heart Health Month! Is Your Ticker In Tip Top Shape?

Heart Health Month

When you think of hearts and February probably the first thing that comes to mind is Valentine’s day. However, this special month is also Heart Health Month. Heart disease is still the number one cause of death in the US, so we thought we should post a few tips to help you keep your ticker in tip-top shape!

For better heart health:

1. Get moving. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine.
2. Cut out foods which contain hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup.
3. Reduce your sodium intake.
4. Limit foods which contain high amounts of added sugars.
5. Rest up. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night.
6. Meditate. Decrease your stress levels by introducing stress management techniques into your routine.
7. Eat more fruits and vegetables and whole grains.
8. Add beans into your diet.
9. Watch your portion sizes.
