4 Steps To A Stylin’ Job Search

Ever wonder why you may not only be dating one guy, all the sudden you’re dating three! Well, the same applies for the job search and interviewing. Without even realizing what you’re doing you’re immersed in the swirl and it’s raining jobs, girl!
Here are four quick and simple ways to get your game on so job opportunities and interviews flow to you with effortless ease.
- Focus on other things. In other words, don’t dwell on it. If you’re completely focused on one job like it’s the numero uno, the end all and be all, guess what? It may just be the end. Instead, keep things light and realize there’s an abundance of opportunities for you. Keep the door open and keep that cab light on.
- Take time for self-care. You know the drill: You’re online 24/7, submitting resumes, connecting on LinkedIn, and quite frankly, getting a little burned out. By the time you go to a networking cocktail party, you’re deflated. No energy. No mojo. And certainly no moxie. Be sure to pamper yourself on a budget. Whether you treat yourself to a mani/pedi or even take twenty minutes during lunchtime to simply walk a few blocks, the mental release will do your body some good.
- Be happy. Nobody wants to hire a Debbie Downer and that comes across during the interview and even getting the foot in the door process. Do things you enjoy or perhaps didn’t have time for in a while like playing the piano, doing pilates, going for a run, hitting up an afternoon matinee just ‘cuz.
- Stay positive. You know when it’s raining men and they just keep coming out of the woodwork and you’re really not doing too much in terms of getting out there? Well, the same applies to the job hunt. Sometimes less is more. And when you’re positive and certain things will work out, there’s no need to sweat it. Sure, this sounds easier said than done but consider the alternative: If you’re negative, you’ll stew in the pot known as negative energy and that’ll be less likely to get you one step ahead. Remember, in the job search game you just need to focus on today, putting one foot in front of the other.
