Hot Fashion: 5 Summer Wardrobe Essentials
It is time to celebrate… summer in the city has unofficially begun! Bring on concerts in the park, al fresco dinners, and weekends at the beach. This is the time of the year to let your hair down, gather with friends and spend time (as much as possible) outside. Between work and socializing, who has time to worry about what to wear?
To get your summer off on the right start, there are 5 must have items that will take you from after work to the weekend in style (plus keep your weekend bag nice and light!)
The Maxi Dress
A key item this summer, the maxi dress is perfect for a dinner after work or a bonfire at the beach. It can also be worn on cooler days layered with a lightweight jacket or an open weave sweater. You could add a belt to give you some shape or a long pendant to elongate your frame.

Every woman must own a lightweight sundress for those extra hot and humid days. This can be worn roaming through a flea market or double as cute cover up at the beach. To get even more wear out your dress, add a cute jacket and wear it to work. Just make sure it isn’t too gauzy (i.e. see through!).

The Perfect Chambray Shirt
Besides the maxi dress, this has to be the most talked about item this summer. The chambray shirt is great due to its functionality. First, it is lightweight. This shirt is a classic in it’s own right and will look great with a skirt, pants or shorts. But, don’t forget, that it can double as a cardigan or even a cover up. Not only will you be able to pack light, but will look fabulous as well.

In every chic woman’s closet, you will find a pair of white shorts (ankle length pants or jeans can be substituted). They look great with a striped sailor shirt, silky tank or a chambray shirt. Wear them with ballet flats, espadrilles or sandals during the day, and dress them up with wedges on a warm night. You cannot go wrong with a pair of white shorts.

It is time to put your heavy leather tote away for a few months, and substitute with a sturdy straw carryall. An instant update for the season, this tote will take you everywhere. Plus, there are many options… colorful patterns, a tribal look or just a neutral will do.

These five items will mix perfectly into anyone’s wardrobe and will take happily through the summer. Get out your favorite wedges and sandals and enjoy!
